Incredible day capturing the Perry High School Marching Band senior banners and team portraits! This session was a mix of talent, teamwork, and pure Arizona grit. And honestly, it was as fun as it was inspiring. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to photograph a group of passionate, hardworking seniors in the heart of a sizzling Arizona summer, let me tell you—this session was a story worth sharing.

We kicked things off in The Puma Regiment band room, a space that radiates personality and pride. The portraits for the senior banners were taken against my grey backdrop, and we avoided the smoke alarms going off and a fire department visit by using spray haze to give it a dramatic, dynamic feel. And that spray is FUN! Thank you to the students for helping me by spraying and making each others banners awesome!

Between poses, there was laughter echoing through the room—these kids know how to balance hard work and fun perfectly. They brought energy, personality, and their own touches to each shot, making every banner unique.

After the banner portraits, we transitioned to the stadium for group and buddy photos. The stadium gave us the perfect backdrop—a wide-open space that let the camaraderie and spirit of the band shine. The heat was no joke. Arizona summers are intense, and this day was no exception. But let me tell you, these seasoned marching band athletes know how to power through. Whether it’s a 100-degree afternoon or performing on a massive stage, they bring their A-game every time. And honestly, seeing their determination was just as inspiring as capturing their smiles. Seniors paired up for buddy shots, showing off their friendships and inside jokes, while the group photos captured the bond that only comes from countless hours of rehearsals and performances. It was the perfect way to celebrate their time together before they step into the next chapter of their lives.

I can’t forget to mention the incredible leadership that brought this group to life. Director Benjamin Sampayan was there, encouraging and guiding the students with the kind of dedication that makes all the difference. Booster parents were also on hand, lending their support and keeping things running smoothly. It’s a community effort, and it’s clear how much love and care goes into making this band a success.

Each senior brought their unique style and personality to the session. Whether it was Kylie and Addison leading as drum majors, Rachel managing uniforms like a pro, or Mia and Moak bringing their expertise to props and equipment, everyone had a role to play. It was a joy capturing these moments of pride and accomplishment.

Of course some my fave band leadership members are the MEDIA COORDNIATORS Annalise, Zach, Lawrence & Mac because thats where I started my photography journey when I was in high school! Annalise is a great kid, can't wait to see where her adventures take her after graduation.

As the sun dipped lower, wrapping up our day, I couldn’t help but feel honored to document this chapter of their journey. These photos aren’t just about banners or graduation portraits—they’re about preserving memories that these seniors will carry forever.
