Capturing the Shadow Mountain High School Senior Swim Team at Roadrunner Pool is always a memorable experience! This session was a perfect mix of fun, pride, and a bit of that Arizona toughness, as these athletes posed and performed in the intense heat that makes Phoenix unique. The Paradise Valley sun was intense—classic Arizona. And yet, these swimmers showed up ready, every bit the seasoned athletes they are. Working with seniors is always a special part of what I do. There’s just something about capturing that moment when they’re on the cusp of new adventures, stepping out with confidence and a spark of excitement in their eyes. I'm so thrilled to get to be a part of my 5th season as their photographer! This group has it all—passion, strength, and the kind of camaraderie that only comes from years of swimming together- and a sense of fun and family together.
One of my favorite shots came from setting them up in their element: right by the pool’s edge, where they’ve probably spent countless hours practicing and perfecting their skills. They were perfectly relaxed in that environment, and it showed. When I snapped photos with them standing confidently poolside, with the sparkling blue water as a backdrop, it was easy to see why Roadrunner Pool is one of the best places for senior photos in Arizona. That unmistakable Phoenix sun added a gorgeous, warm glow to the scene.
From serious senior banner poses to relaxed individual portraits to the fun full team shots and buddy pictures, we covered it all. The seniors had their own ideas too, bringing a fresh energy that made each image unique and personalized. I love that I get to be a part of capturing students memories. Both the lightheartedness and the pride that comes from years of training, teamwork, and dedication. And the heat? They shrugged it off like pros, proving why they’re some of Arizona’s best. They didn’t just survive it—they thrived in it! Meanwhile I tried not to become a puddle on the deck ha!
